Norma Jean Warren of Sweetwater, Texas was summoned home to Glory on Tuesday evening, August 1, 2017 at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A..M., Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Broadway Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Texas with Bro. Gary Warren and Bro. Bill Scott officiating
Graveside services will be held 4:00 P.M.,( central time), 3:00 P.M., (mountain time) Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico with Bro. Gary Warren officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
She was born Norma Jean Amberg on February 12, 1927, to Leroy C. and Virginia Amberg, in Wellington, Kansas. She moved to Clovis, NM in 1941 and graduated from Clovis HS in 1945. Norma married Edgar Lewis Warren, Sr. on July 15, 1946. She worked in the theatre business in Clovis and then as a career figure at the Spudnut Shop in Clovis. She worked for many years as an employee and manager before she and husband Edgar bought the business and operated it until their retirement in 1980. She and her husband moved to Sweetwater in 1991. Norma was a long time member of Broadway Baptist Church in Sweetwater.
Norma is survived by two sons, Gary Warren and wife Cheryl of Statesville, NC and David Warren and wife Kara of Sweetwater, Texas, three grandchildren, Ben Warren and wife Ingrid of Lutz, Florida, Bethany Warren of Denton, Texas and Leah Warren of Bellmead, Texas and two great grandchildren.
Norma is also survived by a step-daughter, Virginia Bolin and husband Russel of Amarillo, Texas, two step-sons, Lewis Warren and wife Renee of Waukesha, WI and James Warren and wife Lonnie of Arvada, Colorado, seven step-grandchildren, numerous step-great grandchildren and step- great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Edgar L. Warren, Sr., parents, Leroy C. and Virginia Amberg, a sister, Mary Louise Reed, three brothers, Leroy C. Amberg, Jr., Donald Amberg and Richard Lee Amberg.
Pallbearers will be Ben Warren, Eugene Serrano, Larry Ford, John Hamilton, David McDonald, and Brock Carter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadway Baptist Church or the Gideons.
