Rev. Roy C. Jones

Rev. Roy C. Jones, age 74, of Big Spring, Texas (Former resident of Sweetwater, Texas) passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas where he had been a resident for seven years.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Mt. Rose Baptist Church with Rev. E. L. Wilson officiating and Rev. Tommy Jackson will serve as conductor.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene, Texas with Fort Hood U.S. Army Honor Guard.   Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  A wake will be held Monday, August 27, 2012  from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Rev. Jones was born September 27, 1937 in Caldwell, Texas, to Issac Jones, Sr. and Lela (Banks) Jones.  He married Jo Ann Jones on November 15, 1986 in Littlefield, Texas.  Rev. Jones was a minister at Mt. Rose Baptist Church for ten years before retiring.   He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Navy.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Jones of Sweetwater, one brother, Morris Jones and wife Virgie of Sweetwater, two step-sons, Roderick Stubblefield and wife Ronda of Austin, Texas and Reginald Stubblefield of Austin, Texas, ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac and Lela Jones, four brothers, Austin Lee "Pig" Jones, Issac Jones, Jr., Archie Jones, and Earlie Jones and one sister, Earline Jones.

Pallbearers will be Walter Blueford, Hilton Bender, Marvin Green, Jimmie Nelson, Webster Williams and Charles Walker.
