Robert M. Gonzales, Sr.

Robert M. Gonzales,Sr., age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe Medellin.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 3, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Deacon Bill Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Robert was born on March 10, 1925 in Claytonville, Texas to Pedro and Eulalia Lily (Martinez) Gonzales. He married Alice Alcala in 1950 in Sweetwater, Texas. He worked for U.S. Gypsum, E.M. Bailey, and also was a self-employed contractor before retiring. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and an active member of G. I. Forum.
He is survived by son, George A. Gonzales and wife Wanda, daughter, Eva A. Gonzales, all of Sweetwater, Texas; five grandchildren, Alex Gonzales and wife JoAnn, Brian Gonzales, Rene' Townsend and husband Gary, Derek Gonzales and wife Amanda, and Lisa Gonzales, fourteen great grandchildren, Diego, Mia, and Timothy Gonzales, Andrew and Santana Gonzales, Isiaha and Anthony Gongora, Gabriella Townsend, Sebastian, Jacob, Karli, and Marcus Gonzales, and Devin and J.P. Gutierrez, and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro & Lily Gonzales, wife, Alice Gonzales, son, Robert "Bobby" Alcala Gonzales and two brothers, Tony Gonzales and John Gonzales.
