Robert Bazley (Buzz) Parsons, age 80, died, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital of complications from a hip fracture.
Per his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Robert served in the Navy Armed Forces and was a special weapons fire fighter aboard his ship USS Tieonderoga and was honorably discharged.
He worked several jobs before his employment with the Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked as a conductor until his retirement. He also worked with Tom Ingram (master plumber) and built many businesses in Sweetwater: K-Mart, Taco Bell, Nolan County Clinic, and Wes Bishop Rehab Center. He contributed services for Sweetwater to replace heating systems to the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium.
He was an active member of the NRA and the Sheiriff's Assoc. of Texas. His hobbies were team roping, and golfing in his early years and managing a cattle ranch.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sheila and four children, Donna Glenn, Dianne Parsons, Randy Parsons and Sherri Cisneros, step-son, Dean Mayhew and wife Jenny, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Doris Parsons, and brother, Tinker Parsons.
A special heart felt thanks goes out to all the doctors, nurses and hospice that showed such professionalism and deep human kindess for Robert when in their care.
In lieu of flowers, Robert was an animal activist and the family requests donations be made to ASPCA or Rescue the Animals in remembrance of him.
