Roger Neil Palmer

Roger Neil Palmer, age 81, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from l:00 P.M. to service time.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Hills officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Roger was born on April 27, 1943 in Sweetwater, Texas to Earl Thomas and Frances Loraine (Hertenberger) Palmer.  He married the love of his life, JoAnn Zimmerman at Salem Lutheran Church in Roscoe on January 6, 1973.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Nolan County for many years before retiring.  After retirement, he worked for Fisher County.   Roger was a good Christian man who worshiped faithfully.  He was a Baptist but he attended Faith Lutheran Church with his family.  He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Palmer of Sweetwater, Texas, son, John Palmer and special friend Sandy Trammell of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter, Dawn Buhrmann and husband Patrick of Godley, Texas, granddaughters, Brooke Palmer and fiance Ethan Jones, and Kira Buhrmann, grandsons, Palmer Buhrmann, Riley Simmons and Alex and Zachary Bowman and Ivy Rutledge, great grandchildren, Audrey, Bexleigh, and one on the way, and sister-in-law, Darlene Pannell, and nieces, great nieces and great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Thomas and Francis Palmer, in-laws, Joe and Charlene Zimmerman, daughter-in-law, Sandy Palmer, and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers will be Riley Simmons, Zachary Bowman, Ethan Jones, Randy Terry, Joseph Yruegas, and Brad Neeley.
