Rolando Cantu, Sr.

Rolando Cantu, Sr., age 70, of Roby, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Per his wishes, his body was cremated.  A prayer vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel  with Deacon David Mendez officiating, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M. recited by Deacon David Mendez.  A private burial of his cremains will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Rolando was born on April 20, 1954 in Longworth, Texas to Francisco, Sr. and Eulalia "Lala" (Aguilar) Cantu.  He worked for Wendell Kent for many years and also owned and operated Cantu Trucking Company.  He was a Catholic.

He is survived by three sons, Roland Cantu, Jr., Patrick Cantu, both of Sweetwater, Texas, and Chris Cantu of Stephenville, Texas; two daughters, Christi Alvarez of Abilene, Texas and Priscilla Flores of Snyder, Texas; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Myles and Kingston; four sisters, Solia Gutierrez of Sweetwater, Texas, Macy Gutierrez of Snyder, Texas, Myra Pena of San Antonio, Texas, and Delia Ruiz of Sweetwater, Texas; three brothers, Arthur Cantu of Stamford, Texas, Adam Cantu of Sweetwater, Texas and Lupe Cantu of Sweetwater, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Lala Cantu, Sr., son, Rudy Cantu, three brothers, Roy Cantu, Buddy Cantu, and Frank Cantu, Jr. and one sister, Elba Cantu.
