Rudolph E. Black

March 21, 1934 — June 18, 2011

Rudolph E. (Rudy) Black, age 77, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Homer Reddic, Sr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Rudy was born March 21, 1934 in Jasper County, Mississippi to Walter Adam and Lavada   Edwards Black. He moved to Sweetwater in 1967, coming from Fort Worth, Texas.   He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for forty  years before retiring. He also drove a truck for about forty years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist.

He is survived by two sons, Gus Black and wife Donna of Frierson, Louisiana and Adam Colt Black and wife Jessica of Sweetwater, Texas; daughter, Sherry Janine Bocco; stepsons, Ken Nelson and Jon Nelson; four grandchildren, Dallas Leon Black, Ruth Louise Black, Karley Elizabeth Black, and Dominoe Mitchell; five great grandchildren, Wyapp, Alexis, Roudy Black and Brayden & Gracyn Broome; and four sisters.Glynda Gilbert, Emma Jean Ware, Dollie Cooley and Margaret Diane Hill; and Colt's mother, Sherry Black of Sweetwater, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Adam and Lavada  Edwards Black.

Pallbearers will be Ken Nelson, Jon Nelson, Randell Turney, Rusty Oldham, Jared Guest, and Michael Sharp.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on  Monday, June 20, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M..
