Sam Wright, age 80, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M., Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt McGowen officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M..
Sam was born on March 19, 1935 in Lamar County, Texas to Houston Samuel and Jewel (Kelley) Wright. He married Mary Ann Gilbreath on November 30, 1956 in Tuxedo, Texas. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from November, 1956 until he retired in 1991. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Sam was an avid hunter, fisherman and domino player. He loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Wright of Sweetwater, Texas, three daughters, Donna Lee and husband Mike, Susan Reeves, all of Sweetwater, TX, Becky McGill and husband Sam of Midland, Texas, son, Bryan Wright and wife Denise of San Angelo, Texas, six grandchildren, Charley Stracener, Jessica Kahsar, Amy Mann, Tara Rains, Chance Frizzell and Nolan Frizzell, five great grandchildren, Brycen Mann, Hunter Frizzell, Mason Frizzell, McKenzie Benham and Keating Kahsar, and two brothers, Cecil Ray Wright, of Lolita, Texas, and Richard Wright of Victoria, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Charley Stracener, Chance Frizzell, Nolan Frizzell, Keven Mann, Daniel Verdin and Gregg Kahsar.
