Silverio A. Alcala

June 20, 1923 — February 1, 2012

Silverio A. Alcala, age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2012 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Pauline Gauna and Connie Palacios.

Holy Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery with Nolan County Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Silverio was born on June 20, 1923 in Melvin, Texas to Miguel and Vincenta (Arrendo)  Alcala. He married Francisca Carrillo in San Angelo, Texas. He worked for U.S. Gypsum for thirty three years before retiring and also in T.V. repairs for 54 years. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

He is survived by two sons, Noah Alcala and wife Eunice of New Braunfels, Texas and Robert Alcala of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Christina Duran of Midland, Texas; Maggie Gabaldon of Sweetwater, Texas; and Eliza Ornelas and husband Carlos of Odessa, Texas; son-in-law, Gregory Munoz of Sweetwater, Texas; daughter-in-law, Ydalia Alcala of Sweetwater, Texas;  three sisters, Yolanda Mendoza, of Mineral Wells, Texas; Maria Aguirre and Dina Alcala, both of San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Henry Alcala of Luling, Texas; sister-in-law, Manuela Carrillo of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, Augustine Carrillo of San Antonio, TX;  seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Francisca Alcala; and two sons, Jacob Alcala and Steven Alcala; one daughter, Emma Munoz; brothers and sisters; Antonio; Manuela; Gloria; Pete; Beto; Jose and Chano.

Pallbearers will be Richard Duran, David Alcala, Ernest Munoz, Steven Alcala, Jr., Carlos Ornelas, Jr. and Richard Stacy Galaz.
