Springer Gordon Smith, age 78, of Roscoe, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Roscoe Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Bennett officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 7:00 - 8:00 P.M.,
Springer was born on January 11, 1938, in Tom Green County, Texas to Emmett Lester and Ella Frances (Johnson) Smith. He worked as a self-employed T.V. repairman for many years before retiring. He was a Christian and also a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a longtime resident of Nolan County.
He is survived by two daughters, Alisa Setliff and husband Shannon of Roscoe, Texas, and Jana Haby of Garland, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jared Davis and wife Nicole of Roscoe, Texas, Auston Davis of San Angelo, Texas, Andrew Davis of San Angelo, Texas, Jon-Ryan Gauna of Denton, Texas, Eddie Haby of Garland, Texas, Cameron Setliff and Chase Setliff, both of Roscoe, Texas, great grandson, Jayden Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Ella Frances Smith, brothers, L.G. Smith, and Lester Smith, and sister Doris Thorpe.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
