Susano Landeros, age 89, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Sterling Hills Rehab & Healthcare.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 18, 2022 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Victor Rubio, Jr.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Mitchell County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Susano was born on November 1, 1933 in Colorado City, Texas to Jose Landeros, Sr. and Dolores (Ybarra) Landeros. He grew up in Colorado City, Texas, "Barrio Juarez" and was a longtime resident of Sweetwater, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas and was released with an honorable discharge.
Susano was a singer, songwriter, and musician. He had a deep love for music and played the trumpet and guitar (his favorite instrument). He organized and led various orchestras, bands and groups including a group called the Royal Notes, recording a 45 vinyl called "Take it Easy and "Yesterday" in 1962. He also worked as a carpenter. Susano was a very active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and led the Spanish choir, playing his guitar and singing.
He is survived by his brother, Ignacio Landeros of Sweetwater, Texas, sister, Maria Moreno and husband Al of Denton, Texas, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, including Terry Correa of Sweetwater, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Dolores Landeros, brother, Jose Landeros, Jr. and sisters, Adela Villa and Margie Correa.
Pallbearers will be Jason Peed, Kyle Peed, Ryan Peed, Robert Moreno, Tommy Moreno and Joe Landeros, III.
