Virginia (Elliott) Hefner

Virginia Elliott Hefner, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 6, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Earl Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Virginia was born July 11, 1919 to Joe and Addie Hodges Elliott in Hereford, Texas. She married Raymond Hefner on December 27, 1945 in San Angelo, Texas. The couple lived in Sweetwater all their married years. Virginia taught school in Mertzon, San Angelo and Sweetwater, a total of thirty five years. Her husband, Raymond, also a teacher, died June 25, 1978. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Don Elliott Hefner and wife Carolyn of Lubbock, Texas and Joe Baird Hefner of Lamesa, Texas; two grandsons, Thomas Hefner and wife Rachel of Valencia, Italy and Joseph Hefner of Abilene, Texas; and niece, Beverly Renner of Quinlan, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Addie Elliott, husband, Raymond Hefner, and sister, Dorothy Jo Renner.
Pallbearers will be Jim Gesin, Doug Richards, Bill Brock, Keith Brock, Glenn Wortham and Joseph Hefner.
Honorary pallbearer will be Thomas Hefner.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6:30-8:00 P.M.
