Welton Glenn Ellison

Welton Glenn Ellison, age 84, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Hendrick Medical Center South in Abilene, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Roscoe Cemetery with Lester Cavitt officiating.  Burial will follow.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Welton was born on January 27, 1939 in Sweetwater, Texas to Damon and Vera (Mize) Ellison.  He married Betty Joyce Colwell.  He was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church.  He was a lifetime resident of Sweetwater.  He worked in the oilfield and also for RSMP Railroad for many years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife Betty Joyce Ellison of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter, Melissa Hoyle and husband Jesse of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Glenn Ellison and wife Connie of Sweetwater, Texas, seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Edwin Ellison and wife Jane of Nolan, Texas, sisters-in-law, Patsy Ribble and Dianne Guidry and brother-in-law, Dennis Colwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Damon & Vera Ellison, son, Michael Wayne Ellison, sister, Mary Kennedy, and brother-in-law, Jack Kennedy.
