Willie Herman Hackfeld, age 83, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March l4, 2011 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Stewart officiating. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 14, 2011 at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas with Bill Johnston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Willie was born July 11, 1927 in Roscoe, Texas to Otto and Emma Hackfeld. He worked as a supply warehouse foreman for ADM for many years and Abilene Lumber Company. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He married Ila Rhea Harris in March, 1970. She preceded him in death on April 7, 1996. He married Kathleen Hopper Bessent in January, 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hopper Bessent Hackfeld of Sweetwater, Texas; three step-sons, Robert Harris and wife Sandra of Abilene, TX; Ricky Bessent and wife Rhonda of Lubbock, Texas; and Jimmy Bessent of Lubbock, TX; three step-daughters, Cheryl Henshaw and husband Randy of Sweetwater, TX; Debra Bradley and husband John of Mesquite, TX; and Shirley Hammond and husband Darrell of Arlington, Texas; several grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Green and Berniece Patterson, both of Sweetwater, TX; one brother, Victor Hackfeld of Richardson, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Emma Hackfeld and first wife Ila Rhea Hackfeld.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M..

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Whittaker, Ronnie Williams, Brad Hackfeld, David Green, Robert Harris, Randy Henshaw, Jack Aycock and Orville Brown.
